Engine Upgrade and System Rework: The Latest Progress on Got Hands
Devlog #2:
As a solo developer working on Got Hands, I am always looking for ways to improve the game and deliver the best possible experience to players. That's why I am excited to announce that I have upgraded the game engine to Unreal Engine 5.0.3.
The upgrade was primarily to ensure compatibility and stability with the latest version of the engine. The new version of the engine, Unreal Engine 5.1, has been released and it comes with a lot of new features and improvements, but also with bugs that have been fixed from the previous version. Upgrading to 5.0.3 allows me to take advantage of these new features and to fix any bugs that I might encounter.
One of the major changes I am making is refactoring the existing codebase, this will allow me to rewrite the damage, AI, and targeting systems, making them more advanced and responsive. These systems are in need of a complete rework, which is the reason why I haven't been able to fix the bugs for the targetting system, the damage system, or AI yet.
As a result of this, I regret to inform you that the planned multiplayer update will be pushed back until the damage and targeting system are functioning correctly. This may take some time but we are confident that this will greatly improve the game and make it an even more enjoyable experience for our players.
I would like to thank you for your continued support as I work hard to bring you the best possible gaming experience. I am looking forward to sharing more updates with you in the near future. I encourage you to keep playing the game and giving me your feedback, as it is essential to help me improve and fine-tune the game.
Stay tuned for more updates, and we'll see you in the game!
