The Evolution of Got Hands: A Breakdown of the Latest Update



Welcome to the first devlog for Got Hands. Got Hands is an action RPG that will take you on a journey like no other. Currently in its early prototype phase, the game aims to seamlessly blend melee weapon combat, hand-to-hand combat, and grappling mechanics, immersing players in a fantasy world inspired by world mythology and cultures. I need your help to make it the best it can be.

In the previous 6 updates I built out a stamina based combat system that includes attacking, counterattacking, and grappling, all centered around one martial arts style. I've also built a tutorial level that teaches players the basics of the combat system.

In this 7th update, I have added four new martial arts styles for players to choose from, each with its own unique moves and abilities. I have also implemented the ability to use special skills during combat, which adds an extra layer of depth to the gameplay.

Currently, I am working on developing the ability to switch styles mid-combat, allowing players to adapt to different situations and outsmart their opponents. I am also working on matchmaking for a wave-based PVE mode and a PVP mode for player dueling, adding even more excitement and challenge to the game.

I am aware that the targeting system needs to be rewritten and after adding the skill system, I have realized that the damage system needs to be rewritten to accommodate knock downs and knockbacks. I may also need to add a system for knock-ups as well. I also have to produce better icons to represent the different skills. Please bear with me, as a great game that is solo developed requires time.
